Houston Community Exchange is a civic infrastructure platform. We pull together authoritative data about nonprofits, government agencies, elected officials, and community resources so you can find what you need without the runaround.
Where the data comes from
Every record in our directory has a verified source. We do not fabricate data. Current sources include:
- IRS Exempt Organizations Business Master File — Tax-exempt status, EIN, NTEE classification, financial data
- ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer— Revenue, assets, filing history
- Houston Open Data— City services, permits, geographic boundaries
- Harris County Open Data— County services and district boundaries
What we believe
The resources exist. Finding them should not be this hard. Every neighborhood has organizations doing good work. Every resident deserves to know what is available to them. We believe in showing up where people are, with what they need, when they need it.
